2018 MDA Scholarship
This year, we will be offering one scholarship of $700 (CAD) to our winner as well as a scholarship of $300 (CAD) to our runner-up. The deadline to apply is June 11th, 2018. All young musicians who have Canadian citizenship or are living in Canada and are under the age of 20 on the day of the deadline are eligible. The scholarship must be used towards the tuition of a music school or program, and not towards any other expenses.
There is no application fee required.

Hailed as “a promising rising star" by ‘The Korea Times’, Korean-Canadian soprano Grace Lee is known for her compelling stage presence in productions such as Julius Caesar with the Summer Opera Lyric Theatre in the role of Sesto, Cunning Little Vixen with The Royal Conservatory Orchestra in the role of Rooster, and The Magic Flute on tour with Opera Atelier and Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra as First Spirit. Some notable accolades include "Most Promising Singer" at the Senior College and University division of the provincial-wide NATS Ontario Chapter Auditions and "Honorable Mention" in the Hal Leonard Vocal Competition. She has been a provincial finalist as a pianist and acquired several scholarships and prizes at the Toronto Kiwanis Music Festival, Rotary Burlington Music Festival, Peel Music Festival and many more. She was an Enriched piano student and prize winner at the Merriam Music Festival and has gone on to perform at an ARCT level in both piano and voice. She has been a featured soloist in concert with orchestras such as the Yemel Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra, Korean Canadian Symphony Orchestra and Markham Symphony Orchestra. She debuted as Barbarina in The Marriage of Figaro with Opera Atelier in Fall 2017. Lee has completed her Performance Diploma in Vocal Performance under the tutelage of Donna Sherman and Jennifer Tung at The Glenn Gould School of The Royal Conservatory of Music. She is currently an Education Specialist at the Merriam School of Music.
